ABOUT THE CONTEST
The annual Southern Exposures Youth Photo Contest is an opportunity for children to share their best pictures of the Rio Grande Valley and may even win a cash prize.
Some researchers suggest that children seem to be exposed less and less to the open invitations of nature. Today’s children are on tight schedules, with childcare, school, and extracurricular activities.
To inspire our current generation of kids to take a stronger interest in Mother Nature, the Valley Land Fund has made its annual Southern Exposures youth nature photo program a priority.
The contest is open to kids between the ages of 5 to 18-year-old and it’s FREE!
The deadline for photo submissions in the 2022 contest is August 1st
There are NO categories this year. Youth photographers can submit up to 6 images online of anything in our natural world.
Every child is a winner!
One winning image per child will be featured in an Outdoor Exhibit and Artist Reception, plus receive a free VLF Tote Bag that included a T-shirt, and free entrance to Awards Ceremony, August 18th, 7 pm at Quinta Mazatlán.
Ten finalists will be chosen, three from each age division, and 1 Grand Prize winner. Families will be notified by email by August 10th.
Prizes will be awarded:
- Ten Finalists: $100 cash prize
- Winning Image per child: Wildlife Photography Coffee Table Book and Yearly Pass to Quinta Mazatlán.
